Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018-19
Under Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018-19, Ministry of Women and Child Development has announced nominations and it is considered the highest civilian award for women. The women who have contributed to any noble cause in relation to Women Empowerment can apply for the same. Indian President has decided to give the Nari Shakti Puraskar on Women’s Day 2019. The screening procedure for the same would continue till the 20th of February. The amount prize for the same has been decided to be an amount of Rs. 1 lakh along with a certificate pertaining to the same.
Touted as one of the highest national awards, it would be given to any women due to her contribution in improving the condition of women in the society. There are total 40 nominations for the same and the last date for filling the nominations is 31st of October 2018 via the online mode.
How to download nomination form?
- First, women have to visit the official website and click on the link.
- They have to click on ‘Guidelines of Nari Shakti Puraskar (519.26 Kb)’ which is under the revised section of the Puraskar.
- You would also get the format of the application form under Annexure 1.
- There are different forms for the ones recommending for institutional awards and recommending individuals for awards.
- After filling the application in the online mode, they can take a printout of the same.
Who can apply for the nominations of this purashkar?
The nominations for the award would be invited from
- Union Territory Administrations, State Government, Concerned Central Ministries or Departments.
- Non-Governmental Organizations or NGOs, Universities or Institutions, Private and Public Sector Undertakings.
- Self-nominations for the women are also allowed.
- The Selection Committee also has the right to recommend any women individual or institution for the nomination of the award.
Who are eligible to apply for the award?
- Any women or institution are eligible to apply for the nominations of the award.
- In case of any individual women, the age of the women must be above 25 years as on the last date of receipt of the nomination.
- In case of any institution, the same must have experience in the same field for at least a span of 5 years.
- For any individual who has already received the same award earlier would not be eligible to apply for the nominations of the same.
- The award would be given to a state which has good child sex ratio.
- No individual or institution would be given this award after their death. In case, the nominee dies after the submission of the proposal, such applications would be considered.

After Free Mobile, Free Calling For Chhattisgarh Peoples under Sanchar Kranti Yojana (SKY)
Each year, Rakhi or Rakshabandhan is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur in every part of India. The SKY scheme has been implemented in Chhattisgarh, under the watchful eyes of CM Raman Singh. This year, girls, residing at the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram tied Rakhi on the wrist of the CM. Ramshila Sahu who looks after the Women and Children Welfare Department also did the same. She was accompanied by Kamla Behan, head of Prajapati Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya. Apart from showering his blessings on all, the CM also announced a Rakhi gift for all beneficiaries of SKY scheme. The announcement highlights that all Jio connection users will attain fee calling services for 30 days, even after they finish the data pack. This offer is only available for those who attain the Rakhi Plan. As per SKY scheme guidelines, Jio users receive 4G smart phones, 1 GB data and free 100 minutes calling to any number. This free call time is available for six months.

Free Rice For Flood Affected People In Kerala
The CM of Kerala said that all ration show owners will be instructed to provide individuals with 5 kg rice free of cost. The announcement came after the massive flood in the state that made millions homeless. Under such circumstances, there will be shortage of food as well. Only those people will be able to get this benefit, which have a ration card. Each ration card holder will get this free rice from the state government for free. No amount of support is enough during these hours of need. But this will ensure that people have staple food to survive.

“Durga Shakti App” in Haryana “Ek Aur Sudhar Project” For Women
The crime rate against women in Haryana is high, and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced the launch of a special mobile app that will pit power in the hands of women. Finally, on 12th July, 2018, the much-awaited “Durga Shakti App” was finally launched by the state government. The app will be monitored by Haryana Police Department. If any woman is in dire need of assistance, she can call on the number 1091. All she needs to do is press a red button on the app, and her location and distress message will be received by the nearest police patrol vehicle. This modern assistance tool was developed under “Ek Aur Sudhar” project, initiated by Haryana government

India’s First Plastic Buyback Scheme for PET Bottles & Milk Pouches in Maharashtra
Blatant use of plastic is harmful for the upkeep of the environment. So, several Indian states have taken necessary steps to reduce its usage. But Maharashtra is the first state that has started the Plastic Buyback Scheme. This scheme will include all PET bottle and plastic milk pouches. Whenever a customer deposits a milk pouch, he/she will receive 0.50 paisa and Rs. 2 for bottles which have a capacity of 200 ml or more. No PET bottle that is less than 200 ml will be bought back under this scheme. The success of this scheme will not only be profitable for the environment, but will encourage common people to donate plastic bottle for recycling or reuse purposes.

Free Health Insurance and Life Insurance for Tea Garden Employees Assam
A significant percentage of people, living in Assam are associated with working in the tea estates. Modi government has announced on 8th July, 2018 that it will join hands with Assam state authority and implement two schemes. One is called Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the other is Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. These schemes will offer as such as Rs. 2 lakhs insurance to tea garden workers. If any worker meets with an accident and is rendered disable permanently, then he/she will get this money. This scheme will offer this perk to around 8 lakh applicants. Keeping the financial background of these workers in mind, the central government has decided to pay the premiums on the behalf of these applicants. Details suggest that annual premium for Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is Rs. 330 and Rs. 12 needs to be paid for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. These will be directly sent to the bank accounts of applicants.

UIDAI Makes Virtual Aadhar Identification Mandatory for KYC
Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI made it easy for people as they no longer need to share their actual Aadhar Code to any organization that requires them to fill out Know Your Customer or KYC forms. Individuals can simply get on the official site of UIDAI, i.e. uidai.gov.in and generate their virtual Aadhar Code. This virtual code will remain active for 24 hours only, from the time it has been generated. UIDAI says that it will make the Aadhar verification process easy, without jeopardizing the person’s personal details. The lines for generating this code have been activated from 1st July, 2018. This number can be used for opening bank accounts, getting administrative subsidies, insurance policy and other activities as well.

Another Hike in the Price of LPG Cylinders
In a shocking announcement on 1st July, 2018, the central government informed common people that the cost of LPG cylinders will go up again. From now, people will have to shell Rs. 2.17 more to acquire a 14.2 kg subsidized cylinder. While Rs. 55.50 extra will be needed to attain a non-subsidized cylinder. For now, the price will be applicable in all major metropolitan cities. All updated rates have been uploaded on the official webpage of IOCL or Indian Oil Corporation Limited, i.e. www.iocl.com. Thus, the approximate new price of non-subsidized cylinders is anything between Rs. 750 and Rs. 780, and that of subsidized cylinders will range within Rs. 485 and Rs. 500 (depending on the metro city)

Generate e-PAN Card Online with Aadhar Card
People who don’t have an official PAN number can get it generated without much fuss. This announcement was made by Income Tax Department. It was stated that any person can get to the official site, i.e. incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and generate their electronic PAN card and number. Once they land on the main page, they have to type in their birth date, address and Aadhar code. The site cross-checks these details and triggers the generation of the e-PAN card. This online e-PAN code generation has started from 29th June, 2018. The process is fast and does not involve any complexities. Indian citizens need not pay any fee for this service for now. Later, the central department may fix a cost for this unique e-PAN card.

Official Announcement for Last Date to Link PAN Card with Aadhar Card
It is a known fact that linking the Aadhar Card with PAN Card is mandatory for activities like opening a bank account, paying taxes or even filling tax return forms. On 1st July, 2018, the Central Board of Direct Taxation or CBDT announced that people, who are still to link their Aadhar and PAN cards, will have to complete the procedure by 31st March, 2019. The entire linking process will be done online. Applicants need to visit the official website and follow instructions accordingly. This linking will help the department’s officers to authenticate the tax filing claims of the individual.
