Key features

  • Real Estate Regulatory Act was launched by Ministry of Urban and Development on May 1, 2017 in Goa. After the act was introduced, the builders were asked to register their projects within 45 days. The state government of Goa failed to notify and formulate the rules for the state on time thus time was extended.
  • RERA also couldn’t notify concerned authority and thus a lot of real estate agent and builders were unable to register their projects with RERA. So, to ensure more builders are registered under this process, the time was extended.
  • The Real Estate Regulatory Authority took some initiatives and notified the act within the state on November 29, 2017 and thus all rules and regulations were properly formulated. Thus this act will now provide an additional 90 days from November 29, 2017 to the builders to register their projects. Now the builders and the real estate agents will have time till the end of February, 2018.
  • The Confederation of Rea Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) has requested the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to extend the date according to the launching of the registration portal. CREDAI wants more time because they haven’t made any mistakes and they want the safety aspects of the website to be tested firstly.

The date extension has been welcomed by a lot of builders and agents. RERA legislation aims to ensure that the builders and the construction projects of Goa are monitored properly. This act is also important for the consumers as it will ensure their faith is restored in the real estate sector. This act will also ensure transparency and liability in the real estate sector.
