Madhyama Sanjeevini Scheme Karnataka for Journalists

The chief minister of Karnataka has announced a new scheme which will be beneficial for the journalists who are all cited in the Karnataka state.  The scheme Madhyama Sanjeevini offers insurance coverage for the state journalists. Well, on considering the facts like financial crisis faced by the journalist’s family in case of premature death, this insurance coverage scheme was introduced.

Launched details

The details about the scheme get announced by the state CM Siddarmaiah during his final submission of the state budget for the financial year 2018 – 2019 on the 16th of February 2018.

Eligibility

Well, In order to avail the insurance coverage under this scheme, you need to be valid journalists with proper Identity proof.

Insurance coverage

  • It’s a group implementation scheme which guarantees life insurance coverage with the claim amount up to Rupees 5, 00,000. The claim amount can be claimed by the relatives or legal heir of the journalists in case of their sudden death by accident or by any other unfortunate events.
  • Apart from announcing this insurance coverage scheme, the chief minister of Karnataka has further said that the Rajiv health plan being given to journalists will be strengthened and enhanced health care facilities.
  • In addition to the insurance coverage benefits to the Karnataka state journalists, the state government is about to construct separate houses for the journalists.
  • Also, the CM added the importance of covering health of the journalists. And he announced the Rajiv Health Insurance Extension for Journalists for the purpose of their health care.
  • In the last 5 years, the journalist’s payout has been increase from 3,000 to 10,000. The monthly salary for the deceased journalist’s family increased from 1 thousand to 3 thousand.

Budget

In 2018-19, the Ministry of Information and Public Relations has allocated a sum of Rs 239 Cr. And for constructing a new Journalists house, the state government has allocated the budget for Rs. 5 Cr. Similarly, Rs 2 Cr would be set up for the benefit of homeowners’ welfare of newspapers, quoted by the CM of Karnataka.
